What is a hipster you say? Well, my definition of a hipster is a mid 20′s person who claim to dislike all that is mainstream or popular. They really like indie music, which seems similar to emo kids. However, unlike emo’s they are quick to shun a band/artist the moment they end up on a soundtrack, TV commercial or on the radio. Hipsters also dislike mainstream fashion which makes them easily spotted since guys tend to wear tight fitting high water pants with their flannels or accessorizing with their bandannas worn as scarfs. Emo’s are similar in respect to their love of tight pants, but hipsters usually dress in a lighter shade compared to an emo’s dark bleak colored wearing selves.

Hipsters hairstyles usually range from medium to long and is usually a little messy and parted to the side. Hipster can usually be found riding fixed gear bicycles, aka fixies, that they built from scratch. Some are painted some flamboyant colors to draw extra attention to them. Hipsters are usually seen shopping at thrift stores, while your emo kid can be found at your local Hot Topic.

So what do you think, are hipsters just plain jane emo kids? I think not. It is a whole separate subculture, who isn’t focusing on their life/world sucking as the emo kids are stuck on.

I just hope the culture does not catch on like emo has.
